This competition, themed “Every Moment of a Legendary Journey is Beautiful,” was launched on April 15, 2015, with a submission deadline of November 30. Spanning more than seven months across spring, summer, and autumn, it received over 3,000 entries, from which 100 works were ultimately awarded first-, second-, and third-place honors, as well as participation prizes.

In addition to capturing their submissions with smartphones, the Liumutai photography contest this time was conducted and judged almost entirely via the WeChat platform, greatly simplifying participation and interaction for visitors. According to reports, since the contest launched, visitors have been sending their entries daily to the Liumutai WeChat official account. Contestants have showcased Liumutai’s legendary beauty from diverse perspectives: their lenses reveal a rich tapestry of landscapes, wildlife, exotic flora, and striking rock formations, as well as architecture, travelers, and lively scenes. Each frame carries the photographer’s unique affection for this secluded, otherworldly landscape, imbued with a gentle human touch.
To ensure visitors can fully enjoy capturing the scenery, Limutai Scenic Area has also timed a variety of seasonal events to complement the photography contest: in spring, there’s the enchanting Pear Blossom Festival and the Wind Chime Festival; in summer, the refreshing Clear Spring Festival offers fun, leisurely activities like mountain riddles, treasure hunts, and painted glass‑bottle crafts—perfect for beating the heat; and in autumn, guests can savor the breathtaking Red Leaf Festival and take part in outdoor sports events. Once inside the park, visitors can snap photos as they explore, then connect to the site’s free Wi‑Fi to post their entries directly on WeChat, greatly enhancing the overall appeal and enjoyment of their trip.

The Limutai Mobile Photography Contest not only encourages participation from the general public, but its judging process is also closely tied to visitors. Throughout the competition, five interim voting rounds and one final round were conducted via the Limutai WeChat account. The top six entries in each interim vote received varying numbers of scenic‑area admission tickets, while the results of the final vote served as a key reference in determining the ultimate grand prize winner.
