The 2016 National Mass Mountain Climbing and Fitness Conference will be held at Limutai, with registration opening immediately.

According to data from authoritative sources, the average weekend attendance in Jixian County for Tianjin residents seeking leisure and vacation activities has reached 60,000. In addition to staying at farmhouses, enjoying home-cooked meals, playing cards, and chatting, an increasing number of residents are eager to connect with nature, venture into the mountains and countryside, and engage in outdoor recreational and fitness activities.

To meet the growing public demand for fitness and encourage more residents to take part in mountain‑climbing and outdoor activities, the “2016 Tianjin Mountain and Wilderness Sports Festival and the Second Limutai Mountain Hiking Conference” will be grandly held on October 22 at Limutai, a national 4A‑level scenic area in Jixian County.

This grand event is the Limutai leg of the “2016 National Mass Mountain Climbing and Fitness Conference—Tianjin Station.” The fitness conference will run from mid-September to the end of October, organized by the Chinese Mountaineering Association and the Tianjin Municipal Sports Bureau. Activities will be held simultaneously on multiple routes every weekend, making it convenient for residents to fit them into their spare time.

This nationwide sports event comprises four themed activities. The first is the “2016 National Mass Mountain Climbing and Fitness Conference—Tianjin Station,” along with the Limutai Mass Mountain Climbing Event. This not only serves as a premier outdoor‑sports and fitness gathering for Tianjin residents but also marks a large‑scale, coordinated initiative linking mass mountain‑climbing activities across the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region and throughout the country. The climbing event will feature three categories: family teams of three covering 6 km, mixed pairs covering 10 km, and individual men’s and women’s events also over 10 km. The event is expected to spark a wave of enthusiasm for national fitness in our city and draw widespread attention from citizens across the nation. We warmly invite all outdoor‑sport enthusiasts interested in mountain climbing to register and take part.

The second highlight of the sports festival is the Limutai Mountain Wild‑Nature Carnival, which comprises four distinct components: a bonfire gala, a mountain‑camping festival, a wilderness music festival, and an outdoor food festival. For participants, it offers a perfect opportunity to unwind and rejuvenate both body and mind, while also forging new friendships and sharing stories and anecdotes about mountaineering and outdoor pursuits.

The Limutai Mountain Trail Race is the third featured event of the festival, and also its most professional, thrilling, and captivating. The competition comprises a 9-kilometer mountain bike climb and a 6-kilometer trail run. During the race, riders put their endurance and technical skills to the test, showcasing both physical prowess and athletic ability. Participation is restricted to athletes who can provide proof of having competed in and completed relevant national-level events within the past two years, and all participants must be proficient in the techniques required for each discipline and possess strong physical fitness. Notably, the mountain bike climb at the 2015 Tianjin Outdoor Sports Festival was the first of its kind among provincial-level competitions nationwide.

The fourth featured event of the conference—the Jixian County Mountain‑Hiking Trail Trek—will be open to all. It will take place on Jixian’s existing mountain‑hiking trails, and citizens aged 8 to 60 who are in good health, as well as children and teenagers (who must be accompanied by a guardian), are welcome to register. The Jixian County Mountain‑Hiking Trail is one of the key projects under Tianjin Municipality’s “National Games for the People” initiative. Since 2015, ten trails totaling 29.5 kilometers have been constructed, providing ample resources and a welcoming environment for public hiking. Visitors to Jixian can fully appreciate the county’s stunning scenery, enjoying both mental relaxation and physical exercise.

The sky is clear and cloudless, and the autumn breeze brings a refreshing coolness—perfect weather for outdoor activities in the mountains and countryside. As a National Forest Park, a National Geopark, and a national 4A‑level scenic area, Limutai highlights forest‑based health and wellness as well as sports and leisure, boasting exceptional natural conditions. We hope that on that occasion, both participants and spectators from the public will gather at Limutai to celebrate this grand event and savor the golden autumn, basking in the vibrant beauty of the mountain forests and enjoying the joy of exercise and fitness.
