China Tourism Day is a cultural treasure left to us by the great traveler Xu Xiake. Since May 19 marks the date when the first entry of his “Travel Diaries of Xu Xiake,” titled “Diary of a Journey to Mount Tiantai,” was written, the State Administration of Tourism designated it as China Tourism Day in 2011. This year’s theme for China Tourism Day is “Green Development, A Better Life.”

At the annual national tourism extravaganza, Limutai is offering visitors a host of substantial perks.

● On China Tourism Day, visitors born on May 19 will receive free admission to the scenic area upon presenting their ID card or other valid identification (free entry and free round-trip shuttle bus tickets). Accompanying visitors can enjoy student‑rate tickets when purchasing admission (limited to a maximum of five people).

● Visitors whose license plate numbers or mobile phone numbers end in 519, or who have the sequence “519” consecutively in their numbers, may enjoy free admission to the scenic area on May 19 upon presenting valid identification. (A round-trip shuttle bus ticket is required.) Accompanying visitors can purchase tickets at the student rate, subject to a limit of five people.
