“A zero-waste scenic area” refers to a management model that minimizes the environmental impact of solid waste by reducing waste at the source, promoting resource recovery and reuse, and ensuring safe, harmless treatment. In advancing this initiative, Limutai has proactively embraced innovative practices, setting the development of a “zero-waste scenic area” as its goal and guiding principle. It has established a “smart tourism” system, carried out comprehensive improvements to the tourism environment, and implemented a green development approach, thereby embedding the concept of sustainable development in the hearts and minds of all stakeholders.

The Limutai Scenic Area has established a dedicated Leading Group for “Zero-Waste Scenic Area” development, clearly defining responsibilities and assigning them to specific individuals. It has also convened special study sessions to systematically identify gaps by benchmarking against the “Zero-Waste Scenic Area” Construction Guidelines and provided relevant training for all staff. In accordance with the creation requirements, the area has comprehensively implemented measures covering institutional management, ecological conservation, environmental hygiene and safety management, pollution prevention, solid waste management, and cultural promotion.

By leveraging technological solutions to streamline park entry procedures, the site has introduced online services, web-based reservations, and electronic tickets, thereby minimizing the use of paper tickets. The Limutai Scenic Area has launched an e-ticketing service on its WeChat official account, rolled out electronic tickets and smart guided‑tour features, and significantly reduced the generation of paper ticket waste at the source, while elevating the level of digitalization in scenic‑area management and service delivery.

Limumutai is actively strengthening ecological conservation within the scenic area. During the maintenance of its facilities, it implements protective measures for the surrounding environment—covering landforms, flora and fauna, and water bodies—effectively preventing environmental pollution and ecological damage arising from tourism development and operations. At present, the area features eco-friendly boardwalks, contributing to the ongoing efforts to build a zero-waste scenic destination.
