The “Autumn Charm at Limutai” red-leaf viewing season has begun—when three people visit together, one is admitted free.

In late autumn, the season is like an aged sage who has weathered life’s trials yet remains full of zest; and in its ethereal charm, nothing is more striking than that delicate blush tinged with frost.

“The mountains are clear, the waters pure, and frost descends with night; among the trees, deep reds emerge against pale yellows.” The fiery hues and vibrant colors set against the mountain light and water’s reflection are enough to stir the heart, even just in thought.

Find a moment of leisure, and with the autumn breeze and sunshine, stroll through the mountain woods where red leaves flutter—what an intoxicating delight it is.

Savoring the scenery doesn’t always mean venturing far—right here, in Jizhou, at Limutai, a mountain of crimson leaves will lull you into a dream…

In late autumn, as you step into Limutai, the distant mountains encircle the landscape, and the rolling hills resemble a palette of spilled oil, with splashes of orange, yellow, and deep crimson that seem to have taken over the entire forest.

Climb aboard the open-top sightseeing bus and speed along the winding, gently rolling tour route, where your eyes sweep over a kaleidoscope of colors—deep crimson maple leaves, golden persimmons, and the inky green of pines and cypresses.

Get off the vehicle, hike through the mountains and forests, and begin to experience the red leaves up close.

On the trees and beneath them, crimson leaves cluster everywhere. As the autumn breeze sweeps through, the foliage spirals down, scattering sparsely across the bluestone path and lending the mountain trail a heady, intoxicating charm.

Occasionally, a strong gust of wind sweeps through, sending the fallen leaves beneath my feet spiraling toward the sky. Just then, a few drift past, brushing against my side and caressing my forehead—soft, lingering farewells from the leaves.

The warm sunlight kisses the treetops, and the vibrant hues of the crimson leaves scatter like gold—this is a communion unique to nature’s creatures, harmonious and perfectly attuned.

After several autumn rains, the Lìmùtái, with its abundant streams, has given rise to springs, pools, and cascading waterfalls of various sizes. Beneath the falls and within the pools, the shadows of rustling red leaves abound.

Some drift with the current, their journey winding upstream to take on the freehand brushwork of a ink‑wash painting; others are held fast by pebbles, while the water flows like silk, gently washing over the veins of leaves; still others float serenely in secluded pools, their fleeting forms captured alongside the slender shadows of withered branches, composing a scene of quiet beauty.

The most breathtaking sight is the harmonious interplay of stone steps, flowing water, and crimson leaves. Crystal‑clear streams cascade down the steps, layer by layer, occasionally carrying the red leaves from one tier to the next—stillness within motion, motion that holds stillness, reaching a state of perfect harmony.

Walking in the wind at Liumutai, I happened to look up and saw a bird perched on a branch, gazing into the distance with an air of serene tranquility.

Before I knew it, I spotted a squirrel peeking out from the bushes—so adorable that my heart melted right along with it.

Here, I set my thoughts aside for a while, like a butterfly drifting freely among blossoms and leaves—chasing a golden hue, encountering a cluster of fiery reds, listening to the chirps of birds and the whispers of the breeze, and breathing in the fragrant scent of grass and fruit along the way…

At last, standing atop the mountain, I watched as crimson leaves below swirled like a sea of red waves, while dappled sunlight danced among the branches, lending a radiant yet serene glow to the scene.

The autumn‑drunk pearwood platform, the mountains and forests, the stone paths, the deep pools… sustaining a dreamlike kaleidoscope of transformations, it proudly unveils its accumulated fragrances, offering them all to the traveler. It is painted right beside our lives, waiting for us to step into it and rediscover the forms we once imagined.
