On December 23, the inaugural Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Mountain Outdoor Sports Festival and the 8th Tianjin Mountain and Wilderness Sports Games—featuring a bike-and-run combined climbing event—were successfully held at the Limutai Scenic Area.
The day was clear, with a bright blue sky, and the warm winter sun bathed the mountain valleys, inspiring a strong urge to get moving. Hundreds of professional cyclists took part in a combined bike-and-run climbing race through the rugged terrain of Limutai.
The entire competition is divided into two stages: participants first cycle from the scenic area’s visitor center to the sightseeing cable car station, then set up their off-road vehicles and hike to the summit of Limutai—Qifu Peak.
The entire course spans 10.5 kilometers, with the winner crossing the finish line in 46 minutes and 45 seconds. The participants were all in high spirits that day, making for a highly entertaining race from start to finish.
The top 12 finishers in the competition will be awarded: the first three will receive RMB 1,000 each, and those ranked 4th through 12th will receive RMB 800 each. The organizing committee presented prize money and medals to the winners on the spot.
The inaugural Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Mountain Outdoor Sports Festival is co-hosted by the Tianjin Municipal Sports Bureau and the People’s Government of Jizhou District. It aims to showcase Tianjin’s mountain outdoor sports offerings, foster a vibrant outdoor sports culture, establish a signature brand for mass fitness activities, and promote the integrated development of sports and tourism.
Over the course of two days, a large number of outdoor sports enthusiasts took part in activities at Pan Shan Scenic Area, Limu Tai Scenic Area, Jixian Training Base, and Tianjin Mountain & Wilderness Sports Base, including mass mountain-climbing events, a bike‑run combined climbing race, the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Mass‑Market Car Rally, and a Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei RV camping experience, fully savoring the joy and excitement of sport.
