“The Resonant Valley” began filming at Limutai on August 10.

2015-08-14

“The Thundering Valley” began filming at Limutai on August 10. On the morning of August 10, at 7:00 a.m., the film “The Thundering Valley,” set against the backdrop of Limutai, held its official opening ceremony at the Limutai Scenic Area. The head of the Limutai Scenic Area, along with the film’s producer Cai Bo and director Xiao Hongyu, jointly announced the start of filming and unveiled the camera covered by a red cloth. Each member of the crew respectfully burned incense, praying for a safe and smooth shoot. Limutai’s debut film, “The Thundering Valley,” tells the story of an unexpected yet perfectly timed encounter: he and she, initially strangers, are brought together by a playful joke made over drinks, embarking on a bizarre and amusing journey through the picturesque valleys of Limutai. From initial misunderstandings to heartfelt moments when danger strikes, and finally to the helplessness of a sudden turn of events—amidst the thundering valley, after their hearts have been stirred, where will they ultimately go? Following the opening ceremony, the production team wasted no time and proceeded to film their very first scene. At Limutai, bathed in the morning light, the village is gently shrouded in a hazy mist. Several traditional farmhouses nestle amidst the verdant hills, while chickens, ducks, and pigs roam leisurely in their pens, and two little deer wander back and forth. Outdoors, beneath two towering trees, the male and female leads lie on separate hammocks—one above the other, one on the left, the other on the right—creating a sense of distance yet hinting at a subtle closeness. This unique way of staying makes viewers all the more curious about what unfolds next in the story. It is reported that the film will spend approximately half a month shooting on location at the Limutai Scenic Area and nearby sites. For more information about the movie and the filming process, please follow the official WeChat account of Limutai (WeChat ID: limutaifengjing).

Indulge in the Dragon Boat Festival at Limutai, with free sachets and postcards offered to all.

2015-06-23

Dragon Boat Festival Fun at Limutai: Free Scented Sachets and Postcards During the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, as spring gives way to early summer, the weather is clear and bright, with sunshine shining warmly. Limutai welcomes visitors from all corners, offering a cool yet radiant mountain retreat. With the heat of summer upon us, people flock to this serene, picturesque haven, losing themselves in its beauty and fun! From June 20th to 22nd, visitors to Limutai can simply scan a QR code on-site to follow the scenic area’s official WeChat account and receive a free mugwort-scented sachet. Additionally, high school and college entrance exam takers graduating in 2015 who present their admission tickets will also receive a complimentary set of Limutai postcards. At the event, many tourists were drawn to the exquisite sachets emitting the refreshing aroma of mugwort, with visitors lining up to claim theirs. Once they had their sachets, smiles lit up their faces as they eagerly posed for photos amid the lush green mountains and sparkling streams. In summer, Limutai offers breathtaking views at every turn. As soon as you enter the scenic area, rolling peaks and towering ridges come into sight, leaving visitors marveling at nature’s artistry. The hiking trails are wide and smooth, making it easy for groups or small parties of friends to stroll, enjoy the scenery, and chat along the way. Not far from the entrance lies an extraordinary geological wonder that captivates countless visitors—Tiantianfeng (Heaven‑Ascending Crack). This narrow fissure between two cliffs features 366 steep steps that rise straight upward, almost perpendicular to the ground. Many visitors are awestruck by its sheer height and narrowness even just by looking up. Climbing along the crack feels like ascending to heaven itself, which is why it’s also known as “The Heavenly Path.” If climbing Tiantianfeng still doesn’t satisfy your curiosity, continue ascending along the shaded forest path to reach the summit, where you can gaze down upon a quaint little mountain village nestled among verdant trees and red-tiled roofs. From there, you may discover another hidden treasure: the ancient Northern Qi Great Wall, dating back over 1,400 years. Though most of the wall has collapsed, the remaining weathered grayish‑yellow stones still evoke vivid images of the watchtowers and smoke signals of yore. For those who prefer not to tackle Tiantianfeng or explore the Northern Qi Great Wall, simply follow the designated trail deeper into the woods. Here, thick green canopies provide welcome shade even on the hottest summer days, while occasional outcrops of jagged rock formations spark the imagination. The air is pure and fresh, carrying subtle hints of patchouli and mugwort—every breath seems infused with the very essence of the Dragon Boat Festival. Limutai has long been celebrated as a “hidden landscape painting,” a legendary place renowned for its natural splendor. The higher you climb, the more tranquil and secluded the surroundings become. Walking along the paths, you’ll often hear the soft rustle of leaves in the breeze and the distant chirping of insects and birds. Meanwhile, squirrels peek out from the trees, occasionally darting into view to delight visitors with unexpected surprises.

If accompanying parents snap a photo of their child’s artwork and share it on social media, then send the screenshot to Limutai’s official WeChat account, the child will receive a “Participation Certificate.” With this certificate, they can claim an exclusive prize—a charming wind chime—at the plaza in front of the visitor center. Some paint, some take home—and beyond that, Limutai offers countless other legendary sights just waiting for you to discover. Right now, the Limutai Scenic Area in Jixian County is surrounded by lush forests, and its cascading streams and waterfalls are coming alive.
